Golf Tournament

Always rated among the best by Golf Digest, Loews The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf Resort and Racquet Club, Tucson, AZ will host the 2008 golf tournament.

The championship Mountain Course designed by Tom Fazio features the world-famous 107-yard, par-3 signature hole - the Santa Catalina Mountains rise behind you on the tee and then the terrain drops to no-man's and between you and the green..The layout utilizes the desert's natural beauty to challenge golfers and create a truly memorable experience.

The course plays to a yardage of 6907 yards from the back tees with a course rating of 73.0 and a slope rating of 147.

The men’s and women’s golf tournaments at Ventana Canyon on Monday afternoon will follow an open-play, four-person scramble format. Tee time is 1:005 p.m. Registration fee of $185.00 includes golf, cart, box lunch, practice balls, tax & gratuity. Please include the fee and handicap for you and/or your spouse on your Registration Form.

Please incidate on your registration if you would like golf club rentals for the tournament. Let us know your preference for right-hand or left-hand, men's or ladies, and we'll handle the rest. Golf club rental requests must be submitted on or before April 1st. Cost is $75.

Ride through the desert with the wind in your hair and the sun on your back during our fun-filled,educational, four-wheel-drive jeep tour.

The tour begins when your guide arrives at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort to lead you through some of the most beautiful and rugged desert wilderness surrounding Tucson as you travel from civilization to primitive country inhabited only by wildlife and ghosts of days gone by.

Once deep into the desert an experienced Naturalist will lead the group on an adventure through the desert where you will learn about plants and cacti which are unique to this desert. He will talk of the ancient history of the desert and how the Native Americans used the desert plant life for thousands of years for food, medicine, tools and raw materials for much of their daily needs. You will also learn about the fabled “Water Cactus” (the real truth about it) and the one you can actually get moisture from. You will see Native American Petroglyphs and Mortar Holes left in the rock by ancient peoples. Bring your camera because the endless views of lush desert valleys and towering mountains are ones you won't want to forget.

Loews Culinary Institute Class

The highly-acclaimed culinary team of Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, trained around the world share their knowledge of the culinary arts with a series of "Celestial" cooking classes, an interactive session designed to teach participants essential techniques, unique ingredient combinations and appealing food presentations.

DeGrazia Gallery and Old Town Artisans

First, you will visit a Tucson landmark, De Grazia’s Gallery in the Sun, which welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Renowned Arizona master, Ted De Grazia designed this gallery to house his works and the gallery now displays his art, adobe construction, and beautiful decorative features. It’s a uniquely southwest place to explore, browse or shop.

Next, take a stroll through Old Town Artisans a unique marketplace located in the El Presidio Historic District. Housed within this 1850s restored adobe building, are distinctive shops featuring contemporary and traditional works of over one hundred artists and craftsmen, including Native American tribal art and imports from Latin American cultures. Enjoy lunch on your own at one of the charming restaurants in the historic district.

Horseback Riding

Located at the base of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains, this tour offers a unique opportunity to view the bio-diversity of the Sonoran Desert on horseback. Interpretive guides/wranglers will lead you into an adventure that uncovers the secrets of this distinctive ecological system.

The trail is located south of Sabino Canyon, offering riders the experience to cross streams, enjoy the cooling shade of the mesquite woodland, travel through the riparian life zone, climb onto the bajadas and mix with giant saguaro cacti. Your guide will also introduce you to village sites of the ancient Hohokam civilization, which farmed the flood plains and mysteriously disappeared around A.D. 1400.

NOTE: Must be seven years of age or older and the maximum weight allowed is 200 – 225 pounds, pending stable.

Basic Jewelry - Beading Workshop

In this workshop, Janet Taylor presents a history of turquoise, it’s value and the
lore behind this semi-precious stone. Taylor is a jewelry designer who
concentrates on beading and creating silver charms. Her jewelry is often
featured at art shows and corporate events. Participants are provided with a variety of
beads and silver to create their own bracelet of Turquoise and Semi-Precious stones.
