BSA 2012 Convention Program: Technology Takes Your Business to the Next Level

Glen Ellyn, IL—When the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) calls its 2012 Annual Convention to order April 29-May 1 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida, it will be introducing the association’s most dynamic business program yet. Leveraging the theme “Technology Drives Productivity,” BSA will welcome four of the industry’s technology leaders to show attendees how authorized distributors and their supply chain partners can differentiate themselves in the marketplace, providing customer solutions and products. BSA’s 2012 Convention goal is straightforward: lead attendees through the technological maze to help them determine what’s next for their company.

On Sunday, April 29th  Daniel Burrus returns to BSA to open the program with “Embrace Technology to Drive Your Business Process Transformation.” Called one of Americas top three business "gurus” by the New York Times, Burrus monitors technology-driven trends to help create enormous, untapped opportunities. His program will help convention attendees define the technology trends for the future.

On Monday, April 30th, BSA will tighten its technological focus with three presentations. Guy Blissett, Wholesale Distribution Lead, IBM Corporation, and the author of Facing the Forces of Change: Decisive Actions for an Uncertain Economy, will talk about information technology and prioritize key trends, primary opportunities and major challenges which are in the minds of top industry leaders in wholesale distribution. Next, Matthew Bookspan of Blacktip IT Services will focus on the impact of social media on the workplace. “Productivity and Social Media: The Good News and the Bad News” will consider the opportunities social media offers for improved production and customer service and whether it can have a negative impact on the workforce.  Brian Eccles, Associate Partner with IBM Global Business Services, will close the program with “Strategic Vision: Mobility and Beyond.” Eccles will draw on his experience with C-level studies to help you identify the right strategic vision and to take advantage of today and tomorrow’s technology in the supply chain work force.

In addition to these technology-focused presentations, Bill Stevens, president and CEO, Motion Industries, will present BSA’s Industry Update based on results from the association’s annual Distributor Survey. In addition, Pete Eich, president, NTN Bearing Corporation of America, will present the ABMA update. On Tuesday May 1st BSA has scheduled its Manufacturers Conference Table Session which offers participants a unique opportunity to pre-schedule and plan for face-to-face meetings to address bearing industry concerns and resolve business problems. Convention attendees find these short, 20-minute meetings to be increasingly productive.

Registration is now open for the 2012 Convention. For complete convention information and registration, please follow this link. http://www.bsaconventions.org/2012/index.shtml.

BSA is the “must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors.” An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted ball-, roller-, and anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association’s mission says, “BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors.” For more information on BSA contact the BSA office at (630) 858-3838; fax (630) 790-3095; email info@bsahome.org or visit the association website at www.bsahome.org.

BSA Opens Registration for 2012 Annual Convention

Glen Ellyn, IL—The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) is encouraging industry leaders to register now for the association’s 2012 Annual Convention planned for April 29 - May 1 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Association leaders point out that there are fiscal and programming advantages to registering in 2011. Early registrants save on registration by leveraging the Early Bird rates for distributor members and participating manufacturers. By registering before January 1, 2012, these same early registrants are using 2011 dollars for 2012 expenses.

Early registration also allows manufacturers to have a Conference Table available for on-line appointments (registration is a pre-requisite for Conference Table assignment) and it allows distributors to reserve conference tables and times most important to them. BSA Conference Table Sessions of pre-scheduled, pre-planned private meetings between distributors and manufacturers are considered one of the highlights of each Annual Convention. Participants believe the face-to-face meetings are especially productive and, in recent years as budgets have grown tighter, have found that the ability to meet with a number of key players in one location is especially rewarding.

To facilitate early registration, BSA has launched the 2012 Annual Convention website, featuring a detailed look at the business program and networking opportunities. Drawing upon the “Technology Drives Productivity” theme, BSA has announced that technology forecaster and business strategist Daniel Burrus, founder and CEO of Burrus Research, will make the keynote presentation on business process transformation. Guy Blisset, global lead for wholesale distribution in IBM’s Institute for Business Value, and Matthew Bookspan of Blacktip IT Services will also be presenters.

BSA Annual Conventions are the premier industry event for authorized distributors of bearing products and services and the manufacturers of those products, and the 2012 event is expected to be one of the best yet.  For more detailed information, additional events and to register for the 2012 Annual Convention, click here!

Andy Andrews Addresses BSA Conference Tables Session

Glen Ellyn, IL—In a departure from previous schedules, the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) welcomed networking and relationship building expert Andy Andrews to help set the tone for the Conference Table Session. Andrews addressed attendees and spouses in a breakfast session before the opening of the association’s traditional Conference Table Session.

Hailed by a New York Times writer as a "modern-day Will Rogers who has quietly become one of the most influential people in America," Andrews is an internationally known speaker and novelist whose combined works have sold millions of copies worldwide. His message to BSA focused on the importance of networking and relationship building between channel partners in today's ever-changing marketplace.  The message was scheduled as an introduction to BSA Conference Table Sessions, short, one-on-one meetings between distributors and manufacturers to consider topics of mutual interest. These meetings are pre-scheduled on the BSA Annual Convention website to allow for advance planning and maximum results. Though they have always received high marks from convention attendees, in recent years the Conference Table Sessions have gained in importance as tight travel budgets and limited time have made other one-on-one meetings more difficult to arrange.

Andrews joined Connie Podesta and Dr. Michael Webber in a dynamic business program celebrating BSA’s 45th anniversary of successfully bringing together the top level executives of what is now a $6 billion North American bearing industry at its annual convention designed for networking and knowledge sharing.

The business programming also calls for two additional, key presentations. Glen Ellyn, IL -- In 2011 the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) will celebrate 45 years of successfully bringing together the top level executives of what is now a $5.6 billion bearing industry in an annual convention designed for networking and knowledge sharing.  The association’s 2011 Annual Convention, “Growing Together: 45 Years Strong,” is planned for April 29-May 3 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines in Lost Pines (Austin) Texas.

Despite a variety of economic and business challenges – including those of the recent recovering economy – BSA has continued to deliver unparalleled networking and problem solving within the bearing industry. In fact both the 2010 Annual Convention and the 2010 Fall Meeting set new attendance standards. BSA anticipates the same response to the 2011 Annual Convention, and attendees can expect the same outstanding programming and access to industry leaders.

Convention planning is well underway for business programs and social events to develop and enhance the industry-specific relationships that are the basis for BSA. As always, the annual event will feature important industry updates from ABMA and BSA, and the traditional Conference Tables Session featuring pre-scheduled and planned conferences between distributors and manufacturers designed to resolve issues of mutual concern, and numerous opportunities for informal networking among the industry leaders expected to attend.
